Ashley Pittman fell in love with the East African landscape and the people she met there while working for the Clinton Foundation’s HIV/AIDS Initiative in Rwanda. It was here the idea for a jewelry line was born. She searched for many months for skilled artisans and the appropriate infrastructure to complete her vision of horned jewelry design and production AshleyPittman.com
On a routine visit to ShopStyle I came across several pieces of jewelry that caught my eye. The funny little thing about these pieces is they were all made by the same person! Does that ever happen to you? I feel like that happens to me all the time. Naturally my curious nature kicked in and I had to know everything about Ashley Pittman and this new line of jewelry I had discovered!
The Ashley Pittman Collection reinterprets the power and simplicity expressed in the shapes and textures of centuries-old African jewelry. The collection features natural horn carved by a women’s cooperative, fair-trade semi-precious gemstones, bronze and other materials indigenous to East Africa. Bergdorf Goodman
Overall I am so glad to have discovered the amazing work of Ashley. Her designs are really unique and exciting. The Ashley Pittman Foundation donates 10% of all profits from the jewelry collection back to Kamboo. TGIF ladies and gents! Welcome back to another edition of Mallory’s Friday Favorites! This week our picks will revolve around the fun fall trend – two tone fashion! Maybe I’m just rebelling against all the color blocking madness going on right now, or maybe it’s just my inner love for Chanel that truly appreciates a good two tone piece of clothing or jewelry. Either way, enjoy!
First up we have a really classic pair of BaubleBar Two-Tone Drop Earrings. My undying love for BaubleBar has only increased since laying my eyes on these earrings and I’m sure will only worsen with time. The thing I love most about this pair of earrings is that even tho they are simple in design, they are so elegant at the same time. I’m all about versatility when it comes to jewelry – function should match form – and these earrings definitely fit the bill!
Next up we have the funky and fabulous Michael by Michael Kors Long Vest. It screams burningman fashionista and can only be worn by the truly fearless. Although it’s not totaaaaaally two tone, it’s close enough for our Friday favorite list. Channel your inner animal, load up on accessories and away you go!
Last on our list is this must have pair of Ciao Bella Tabby Two Tone Riding Boots. Love! Every girl needs a good pair of structured leather boots, it’s just a fact. This particular pair of boots is great because having that two tone leather will really open up the opportunities to wear them. Between black and brown you really can’t go wrong!
That’s it for this week ladies and gents! I hope you enjoyed my Friday fav’s and have some new appreciation or inspiration for two tone fashion. Have a great weekend!
For the past several months Friday mornings have served as the highlight of my week. For those of you who follow me on twitter, you already know why – Buried Baubles! One of my most favorite jewelry companies BaubleBar came up with a super creative and fun idea for their shoppers. Every Friday morning they mark down 1 item (sometimes 2) on their site to $10.00 and send out a clue to go with it! And the hunt begins, some Buried Baubles are easier to find than others, but true ‘Bauble Heads‘ know the search will definitely pay off. Below are some of my fav BB’s from the past few months!
Bracelets – Ivory Band Bangle, Hematite Chunky Links Bangle, Taupe Band Bangle.
Earrings – Lilac Cushion Studs, Elongated Double Drop Earrings, Cabochon Bubble Drops.
There is still one more week left in the Buried Bauble hunt! Check out the BaubleBar Facebook or Twitter page this Friday AM for your chance to get the last Buried Bauble of the summer.
TGIF ladies and gents! This week was jam packed with new jewelry discoveries, trend samples and even a pop up trunk show. Throughout all of these fashion events I noticed one trend that really stood out above the rest. Blushtones are colors we have been seeing big time this year in clothing, accessories and especially jewelry. With shows like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars fueling fashion in the teen/early adult world, the blushtone trend looks like it’s here to say.
The first of 5 pieces I wanted to share with you today comes from the bane of my jewelry existence… literally. I discovered BaubleBar a few months ago and have not been able to stop buying! I purchase these gorgeous Pink Flower Chandelier Earrings last week and am so in love with them. The best part about them is no matter what hair color you have, they really stand out. You can dress them up or down and they are just a great piece for any occasion.
The second piece we have is this amazing piece from Send the Trend, one of my favorite Jewelry/fashion of the Month clubs. The Sasha Ivory Dancing Bracelet is a really detailed piece made with ivory and crystal jiggle Gemstones. The gold, pearl, crystal and white combo fits so nicely into our blushtone category and will serve as a great pop of color on tan skin or brighten up pale skin. Loves it!
This next bracelet is another piece from the first Jewelry of the Month club I ever joined, and probably the most famous out there – Jewelmint. The Corsica Bracelet is a really classic piece and a great addition to any jewelry box. The gold-plated bracelet features milky white resin pyramids which we have been seeing a lot of lately in high end designer jewelry and is completed with a very chic box tab insert. Oh la laa talk about some french island flare!
Our next piece is a really trendy carnation-colored wrap bracelet edged in subtle gold from the only and only BaubleBar. The Think Pink Wrap Bracelet is a fun substitute for some of these other classic styles and is a mixture of some amazing colors. The whole wrap trend has also become really popular in fashion over the past year, notably by the Chanel wrap watches and Alexander McQueen leather wrap bracelets. This bracelet is another example of a piece that works so well with any skintone and will transition perfectly with your wardrobe season to season!
Lastly we have the Audrey Cluster Bracelet from Stella & Dot. This is a really fun piece if you are into baubles and chunky jewelry. The mix of brown, ivory and campaign with pearls and faceted stones is just stunning and is one of my personal favorite cocktail or garden party pieces. Talk about some great arm candy!
Ok ladies and gents that’s it for today roundup of blushtone jewelry. I hope you all love these pieces and have a great weekend!
TGIF once again everybody! It’s been another crazy hectic week in Mallory land, but I still have some fun Friday Fav’s to share with you 🙂 First up is my new jewelry obsession The BaubleBar! Thanks to a very aesthetically pleasing Facebook Ad, I was lead to the BaubleBar page and then onto the website. I instantly fell in love with their collections and wide range of trends. After loading my shopping cart up with about 12 items, I decided to narrow it down to three pieces. I am very excited to get them and will report back when I get the goods!
Next on my list is a San Francisco landmark, The Bubble Lounge! I was lucky enough to spend my first night here with a group of amazing ladies for a Digitally Chic monthly meetup. The Bellini was to die for, the lighting was serene and the overall atmosphere was just beautiful. I would highly recommend the BL for your next girls night out in San Francisco, or NYC where the originally BL lives!
And lastly for this week’s Friday Fav’s is my absolute favorite summer Starbucks drink – the Passion Fruit Shaken Ice Tea Lemonade! The color looks as good as the drink itself tastes. This is a wonderful alternative to coffee in the afternoon and even if it’s not on your local Starbucks menu, they will make it for you 🙂
That’s it for this week ladies & gents. i hope you all have a great weekend!
Hey Jewelry Lovers! If you aren’t already an Etsy fanatic, then allow me to introduce you to your new best friend! Etsy.com is an ecommerce website focused on handmade and vintage items. These items cover a huge range of products including art, photography, clothing, edibles, bath & beauty products, quilts, knick-knacks and best of all… tons of JEWELRY!
Each week I will pick our my favorite new Etsy find and share the info with you. I will also add reviews of the seller and items I purchase. To kick start our new Etsy Pick of the Week series we have Lisa D. Jewelry!
I have ordered several pieces of Jewelry from Lisa D including my latest purchase, the Gold Sideways Cross Necklace. She is a very creative artist and her Etsy Shop is filled with amazing accent pieces, delicates and gorgeous stones. Gold is definitely one of the hottest trends this year and has replaced the staple of silver jewelry in the fashion world. She covers the best of the basics when it comes to gold and incorporates many other popular trends such as blush and nude colors. Shown below are three of my current favorites from her shop right now:
Starting from right to left -The Wishbone Necklace, The Blush Champagne Triple CZ Earrings and the CZ Sideways Cross and Matte Black Onyx Bracelet. The thing that really attracts me to these pieces are the fact that they will make such great accents to any outfit. Subtle, delicate and almost discrete yet super stylish and creative. Her use of real life inspirations shines through into her work as an artist. Overall I would highly recommend giving her shop a walk through!
Until next week XOXO Mallory
Rachel Zoe has been a fashion icon for many years now, but over the last several years she has really made the transition from celebrity stylist to top business woman in the fashion industry.
The reason I admire Rachel is not because she has the worlds most amazing wardrobe, or that she gets to style some of the most amazing celebrities in Hollywood or even that she travels the world on a non stop basis. The thing that stands out to me is that Rachel had no formal fashion training. She didn’t spend $80,ooo.00 on some FIDM degree and she didn’t have famous parents to get her foot into the fashion world, she did it all on her own.
Looking past all the criticism about her weight, lifestyle and work ethic, I believe that everyone can learn a thing or two about drive and passion from Rachel. Whenever I’m lacking the motivation to get excited about an upcoming project or need some inspiration to get me through the day, I can turn on the Rachel Zoe Project or simply flip open any page in her book Style: From A to Zoe.
I also truly appreciate everything I have learned about fashion and especially vintage clothing from watching the show or reading her book. If you had told me a year ago, the adrenaline and excitement I would feel from holding a piece of vintage Van Cleef Jewelry I would never have believed you. I was never interested in vintage clothing or jewelry, and now it is one of my biggest passions and I have her to thank for that.
Overall I would highly recommend this book for those of you who are interesting in not only fashion, but how to really build a wardrobe. It’s exciting to learn about a subject from somebody who has the passion and knowledge like Rachel does, take my word for it! You don’t need to be a RZ lover to love this book. Enjoy!
